Informal Musicianship Concerts

Young musicians of any grade and instrument are invited to participate and perform to a friendly, supportive audience of family and friends.

These termly coffee concerts are also ideal for those practicing for music exams.

The first of our Musicianship Coffee Concerts went really incredibly well with an audience of nearly 40 people in church.

With a new piano and such a beautiful venue, we want to support young musicians within our local community - and also create enjoyable events for people on their doorsteps.

The concert was just 25 minutes long and everyone sat down to listen with their cups of coffee and biscuits - to keep the atmosphere friendly and informal.

Five young musicians aged from 8 to 16 performed - Alice, Elsa, Saskia, Ellie and Jack - three pianists (who enjoyed playing our beautiful new piano), a clarinetist and a vocalist (alto).

Repertoire ranged from 'Whistle a Happy Tune' from the King and not one, but two Beethoven Sonatas and Chopin's Raindrop Prelude as a finale.

Each performer introduced their pieces before playing and they were applauded with great enthusiasm when they had finished. Well done to everyone who participated - especially for putting themselves forward for the very first of our Musicianship Coffee Concerts and overcoming their nerves to give real entertainment to everyone there.

We will be running these concerts on a termly basis going forward and already have 4 performers booked for our Lent Term Concert!

Future Musicianship Coffee Concert dates are:

Saturday 7th March at 11.00am

Saturday 6th June at 11.00am - to start the Baslow St. Anne's Summer Festival.

Any practising young performers (up to age 21) are welcome to perform, subject to a maximum programme length for each concert of 40 minutes.
