Christian Aid

Christian Aid works with over 600 partner organisations around the world, towards ending the injustice of poverty.

I wish to extend a huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone who helped raise awareness and money during and around the time of Christian Aid Week in May of this year.

Particular ‘Thanks’ to all who helped with the House to House Collections, to David and Christine at The Village Shop and to the helpers and organisers of the Methodist Church’s Community Cafe. Together we raised £1,300.69.

This substantial amount will make a difference to the lives of many people who are in need, including people like Tenneh who lives in Sierra Leone and featured in this year’s campaign. She is one of millions of people worldwide desperately in need of improved healthcare.

I plan to co-ordinate Christian Aid Week again next year (May 2020), and as always will be looking for volunteers to help. It’s not necessarily too onerous and every bit of help makes a difference. If you can offer any time we could potentially extend the house to house collections to cover more of the village.

Please get in touch by email heatherelphick@icloud.com or telephone 01246 582211.

Tenneh Bawoh lives in Sierra Leone. She will never forget the day she gave birth – the most dangerous day of her life.

Watch the film to hear Tenneh's powerful story.
